How Do You Stop a 747?

This Boeing video shows what happens when a 747 Jumbo Jet is forced to abort a full-speed takeoff on the runway. The massive aircraft has to be slowed by carbon wheel brakes developed and made by Goodrich. The brakes can reach temperatures as high as 1,400 degrees Celsius (2,550 degrees Fahrenheit.) At those temperatures, the tires are set to deflate automatically so they won't explode.
