Suicide at the World's Tallest Building

The Sun: A man has died after throwing himself off the world's tallest building. The victim, believed to be in his 20s, is the first person to have committed suicide from the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai.

Police said the man, who was thought to be an employee at a company in the tower, leapt from an air vent on the 147th floor and landed on a 108th floor terrace. It is thought he asked for time off before jumping but was refused.

Dubai Police said in a statement: "The police operations room received a call about a suicide at the Burj Khalifa, on Tuesday, and ... investigation teams were immediately dispatched."

Some of the building's metal barriers were damaged when the man hit them during the fall, officials added. The Burj Khalifa, which is 2,716.5ft tall and has more than 160 floors, holds several world records, including the highest occupied floor and the elevator with the longest travel distance.
