Herald Sun: Heartless thieves have stolen up to $30,000, and the wishes of thousands of children, from a popular kids theme park.
The $30,000 coin stash was stolen after thieves broke into Anakie's Fairy Park (Australia) and raided the much-loved wishing well during a theft on Sunday night.
Manager Garry Mayer told the Geelong Advertiser the well had about eight years of "wishes" in it, or about $30,000 worth of $1 coins weighing about 270kg (595 lbs). "The children come along and make their wishes, and there were a lot of heartfelt wishes in there," Mr Mayer said.
"It's a very cold-hearted, very selfish crime."
The thieves are believed to have scaled a 1.8m wire fence between 5pm on Sunday and 9.30am on Monday.
