Celebrities React to News of Amy Winehouse

New York Daily News: News of Amy Winehouse's death spread quickly on Saturday afternoon, sparking saddened reactions from fans and celebrities across the globe.

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan was one of the first celebs to Tweet out word of the singer's death. "Sad to hear about Amy Winehouse. I mourn any time one of our own passes on. A tragedy...no doubt. Truly sad."

He was quickly joined by many more.

Russell Simmons added, "I am deeply saddened to hear the passing of Amy Winehouse. She was an extraordinary talent who left us with tremendous gifts throughout her career. I send my sincerest condolences to her family, friends and fans."

NMicki Minaj couldn't even believe the "Rehab" singer had passed away.

"Please tell me Amy Winehouse didn't die. Is this some sick joke?" she tweeted.

Musicians weren't the only ones expressing their condolences. Ashton Kutcher simply tweeted "Rip Amy Winehouse" while reality show star Kim Kardashian added "I just heard the news that Amy Winehouse passed away. What a true talent. I pray she's in a better place & at peace."

Kutcher's wife, Demi Moore, also expressed her sadness. "Truly sad news about Amy Winehouse," she tweeted. "My heart goes out to her family. May her troubled soul find peace."

Actress Gabrielle Union added "RIP 2 the wonderful, loyal, generous Butch Lewis and the very talented Amy Winehouse. Heartbroken..."

The singer was found dead at her London apartment on Saturday. She was 27.
