Wisconsin State Journal: Actor Henry Winkler, who played Fonzie in the 1970s sitcom “Happy Days,” set in Milwaukee, makes a cameo appearance in one of three television commercials this summer for the state Department of Tourism.
The $3.1 million advertising campaign kicked off Monday and also includes radio, print and social media ads, along with ads on Chicago Transit Authority buses and elevated trains.
The state is spending $9.9 million on marketing this year but has proposed increasing that to $13.4 million by 2013.
Winkler appears at his bronze statue along the Milwaukee River in downtown Milwaukee. The commercial also shows Bradford Beach, the Milwaukee Art Museum and Summerfest.
