American Airlines to Test In-Flight Video Streaming

Star Telegram: American Airlines announced on Tuesday that it will be testing an in-flight streaming entertainment system from Aircell.

The Fort Worth-based carrier said two of its Boeing 767-200 aircraft that fly transcontinental flights will be able to try out the inflight entertainment system that allows passengers to stream movies and TV shows to personal devices.

"We know our customers want to be connected on the ground and in the sky, so we are working hard to stay on the leading edge of connectivity through technology enhancements like this," said American's vice president of marketing Rob Friedman said.

American also announced that it will add Wi-Fi service to the remainder of its domestic aircraft. The expansion, which will continue through 2012, will include 93 Boeing 757s and up to 50 additional MD-80 aircraft.
